Zebras are Black and White!

I have been searching the high heavens for an 8 x 11 zebra print rug that isn't too cheap feeling but is reasonably priced for a non-wool rug or I could throw in a few extra bucks a for a wool one. I looked in stores and online and have determined that area rug designers have never seen a zebra, let alone a photograph of one. It's not hard! There's a channel on television called, National Geographic!

Just to refresh our memories... these are zebras. Beautiful creatures and conveniently their coat markings will be the funky in my shabby chic office decorating.
Now for the reason behind my rambling...
Here are some things I've come across...

The design is close, somewhat a respectable effort. But what's with the brown and cream? Zebras are black and white!!! (Refer back to the first picture, if you're not sure). Then we've got this baby. Don't even call that zebra! It's got black but what's with the cream and the psychadelic design?

This one is a bit more like it and from a different "angle" of the zebra, not necessarily an aerial view. I almost pulled the trigger on buying this the other night from Overstock but wasn't trigger ready and they're now out of stock.

Wish me luck cause I want my furniture! I have a gorgeous desk from Pottery Barn waiting in the garage (since May) for this office/craft room of mine to be finished. Looks like it'll be a bit longer...

Eggplant Victory

We have eggplants! It took awhile (but they're late bloomers) and some annoying bugs eating up the leaves. They're little bitty things smaller than my fist but will get quite a big bigger.

In other news... We have another rabbit nest. It's being used by a momma rabbit but no babies just yet.

My Favorite State

Everyone who knows me, knows Hawaii is my favorite state and place to be. Last Friday Hawaii celebrated 50 years of statehood and got it's own commemorative stamp. I ordered a couple of sheets.

Perfect Pool Day

This weekend started out pretty quiet. Our calendar was, for once, empty so we stirred it up a bit by inviting my cousins over. My cousin, Suesan from Ohio, was in town and staying with my other cousins, Catherine and Victoria.

They came over after their Picture People session and it was one of the best pool days ever in our pool this year.
Suesan hanging out on a noodle.

Victoria posing on the her blowup chair that is NOT a pool toy, but apparently now is.
Catherine hamming it up in her "mini pool" of an upside down floating lounger.

Just before the girls came over I learned how to dive. I had never dived into a pool because, well I was just plain scared. But hubby taught me how to dive in one step at a time and then Suesan give me some more tips.

Full Moon Craziness

Yesterday was definitely a full moon because today is actually pretty normal.

Yesterday's happenings...
1. My mother-in-law ends up the hospital with severe stomach pains (she's okay and they've figured out what's wrong just need a course of action).
2. My car is dead upon my arrival at the train station. Fixed with a new battery.
3. Verizon is crawling all over my neighborhood because the telephone lines fell (no pole falling, just the lines).
4. Hubby's best friend runs over his cell phone with his fiance's car.
5. A co-worker had a false fire alarm go off at her just bought house - thankfully it was due to a faulty alarm system, but the fire department still had to "break in" and tore up the screen door.
6. My parents couldn't find a return flight for their trip to Taiwan (they found it today).

Thank goodness the week is almost over.

That Car Again...

I arrive at my train station yesterday and when I went to start my car it wouldn't start. There was no distinct sound of the engine willing to start but I did have power for the windows and radio.

I suspected the worse - alternator issues. Hubby came to my rescue and he figured to start small. He jumped started the car and we were off towards home. Unfortunately the car sputtered a few times and wouldn't start up again after we shut it off in the driveway. Thankfully we have an Auto Zone around the corner where we got a new battery.

Car seems to work this morning.

Yes, we're still painting.

The project if the week is my office. We had my beautiful dream desk from Pottery Barn in the garage since May and boxes of craft goodies in the basement since we moved in. We finally rested up enough to paint again - we still hate painting!

This is what my office looks like after a couple days of painting. It needs another coat of the red (same red as the dining room), chair rail and a dash of shabby chic.

Zucchini Fritters

What else can we do a bunch of zucchini? Well Martha Stewart seems to have ideas...

Martha's recipe is okay - needs some perfecting but has potential. But for now they taste good and look pretty.
