The Best Indian Food

On Friday I went out to lunch with colleagues to Utsav, an Indian restaurant in mid-town. I'd never heard of nor been there but it turned to be the best Indian food I've ever had.

I went for the lunch buffet ($17.95) and the selection of dishes surpassed any other Indian buffet. My favorite was of course the chicken saag (creamy spinach and spices) which was cooked to perfection. The rice and naan we're very well flavored and new to me were chicken salad with a slight Indian flare, but amazingly delicious. An eggplant dish in a slightly spicy tomato based sauce and lastly the mango mousse thing. It seemed more like pudding but had a very vibrant mango flavor. I'm not a fan of the pudding texture but this was not as thick so I was able to get down a couple of spoonfuls before I had enough.

I Miss London

It's been more than 2 months since I was on my business trip in London and I've been missing it lately.

I really enjoyed my trip there and feel like I haven 't seen it all because most trips were in quick passing and not really drawn out a just a bit more to enjoy it. Plus it was cold so standing still in one spot wasn't the best idea. I've also been craving the delicious foods that we've had.

I seem to have a thing about loving foods from places I can't easily get to. I have a sweet from Japan that I absolutely think is a slice of heaven and recently finished them. That's a blog for another day.

My London love is Penn State Pretzels in Sour Cream and Chive flavor. Seriously the MOST flavorful pretzel I've ever had. It's the prefect mix of flavors and I tried to get to a grocery store before I flew home but it was just too hard and I was already having packing issues. So on the flight back on Virgin Airlines (where I first learned of this delightful treat) I made sure to be totally ghetto and ask for a few extra mini airplane bags of the pretzels. I stretched those as long as I could.

I will have to try to convince the hubby we should do a European tour, preferably to London, France and Italy. Those are really the only countries I care about, mainly for the food and secondly the sights.

At the Courthouse

A few weeks back I got a jury summons. I hadn't gotten one since I was in college and at that time I at least had the excuse of being a student that got me out of it.

Now I have nothing. I do have TONS of work I am not doing at my full time job but hey for minimum wage I say screw all my projects that will likely impact my performance review...can you tell I hate this?

I am sitting in the fancy building pictured here in a room that evokes memories of Matlock and it's 70s décor. Oh how I adore wood paneling!

I am already bored so let's see if I can get this wireless connection to benefit in some way.

UPDATE:

I am free!

I was called for two panels, a civil and a criminal case. In the civil case I was never called up as a potential juror and was subsequently sent back the holding room. After lunch I was called for the criminal panel (I think the guy's guilty) and we were asked to answer 31 questions and if you answer "yes" for any of the identified four questions you had to meet with the judge and attorneys. When I met I apparently selected an answer that wasn't impartial and I was immediately dismissed. Thinking I may have a chance for a third panel I was pleasantly surprised when I was dismissed at 3:30 to go home with a little note confirming my day spent at the courthouse.

Is it worth $57?

This hat is so what's in my head all the time. Now is it worth $57 to tell the world?

I got an email about a Kate Spade sale and of course had to check it out. In checking it out I came across the best hat ever but it really isn't my style. I kind of wish it was but I think my husband would be happier that it isn't. He knows, all too well, my very strong desire to return to the happiest place on Earth - Hawaii.

If I was a snowboarder like my brothers then it'd have to be my style - my snowboard style. :)

Ugh... Another Price Increase

The US Postal Service has announced yet another rate increase. The letter rate for an one ounce mailing will go up two cents from 42 cents to 44 cents. Other mail categories, of course, are going up too.

All this will occur on Monday May 11, 2009 - my stinking birthday. One would think having Mother's Day on your birthday every few years was enough (it was last year) and this year I get the rate increase! So get those birthday cards of mine mailed on time to save a couple of pennies. Just kidding.

Beautiful Burberry Bags!

If you didn't already know, I am a HUGE fan of Burberry. A few weeks back I had to return some Burberry sneakers that I got a deep discount but bought the pair that was a 1/2 size too small but the right size made my feet look big. I have issues with my feet looking big. Anyways, it saved me a few bucks because at some point I accepted the fact the sneakers didn't fit and that I could live without them. :)

When I am in Nordstrom I must make my usual rounds to see the shoes and handbags. My last Nordstrom trip yielded some magnificient Burberry for 2009! May I introduce to you (from top to bottom) the Ruched Ribbon Lowry, Ruched Ribbon Hobo and the Catridge Pleat Lowry. My favorite color is definitely the white at bottom or the middle one called trench (fancy word for "close to khaki"). The top bag is credited as "pink" but in person is more of mauve colore. Don't get me wrong, if someone handed me one of these bags free and clear I wouldn't give a rat's ass what color it was. My favorite bag style/shapes are the the top and bottom ones. The middle is too big for me, it's probably as tall as I am. ;)

Sadly, unless I was rich like Richard Branson or they went on super sale I'll never own one. But a girl can dream can't she?

Not Again...

Last night on my way home during the snow my check engine light went on. That's the brightness in the left corner of the picture. On top of that we had to drive me not-a-surprise-it's-broken car to pick up Nick's (it might still be broken) truck from the mechanics at Ford.

A couple of months back my car stalled and had to have the spark plug wires replaced. I have no idea what it is this time but at least it's not stalling. Nick's truck had a broken seal that would leak oil from the engine and it would then burn and fill the car with a lovely burning smell. Well the smell is still there and we may have to send the truck back.

Technology is so frustrating especially when it's thousands of dollars and doesn't work right.

I Never Did Like that Groundhog

We just had a couple 40 and 50 degree days and then the groundhog predicts six more weeks of winter... So the next day we get more winter in the miserable form known as snow.
