Oh my gosh. Holy crap. It's been forever since I last posted. What's my excuse? Well life is hectic when you come back from 2 1/2 weeks in paradise and have to finish planning for a reception and it's not just any ol' reception - it's a Chinese banquet. Okay, I am now done with the whining.
Upon returning to reality we made a decision about our cake. We ordered our cake from Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken NJ. We had batted around different ideas to make the most of the money and what different guests might like but decided that the easiest and most delicious route would be to go with Carlo's. Our cake will be a 2 tier square, chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. Yummy! The cake is not necessarily sweet like sugar but more a rich chocolate taste. Almost rich like dark chocolate. I don't know really how to explain it best but I can vouch for the fact that it tasted awesome.
Our cake should look something like this pretty Tiffany blue cake with some color revisions.
The guy to see at Carlo's is Buddy. That's right ... his name is not Carlo. It turns out that his grandfather (maybe father) bought the bakery in 1964, kept the name and made a name for it. The bakery has been featured in almost every bridal magazine I've come across and I've seen it on television in one of the wedding shows. I know I sound like an advertisement but this is voluntary and I gave Buddy my money!
So far so good - we love the cake, we love the design and Buddy is really easy to work with. We didn't have any crazy requests but rather took something they've done and tweaked it a bit. We'll give a final review and pictures of the finished product (definitely before we cut it up) in about 2 weeks time.

A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words
That phrase could not be more accurate to describe the priceless and perfect photographs we have of our wedding.
We got married on Thursday May 24, 2007 and didn't really see any pictures until more than a week later. Since our cruise stopped for two days on Kaua'i we took a morning to visit our photographer, Sara Wall, and picked up our DVD full of glorious pictures. Sara was kind enough to show us a slide show of the 500+ pictures and we were floored at how great they turned out.
Here are a couple of my favorite pictures ...
A really nice and reassuring surprise happened when Sara walked in the room and following her was another photographer. If I am remembering correctly, her name is Keana. I know for a fact that she took the last photo through some trees.
Sara and Keana both do amazing work. They are both such professionals and really put me at such ease that I didn't even know most of the pictures I have were even taken. Sara is a bit on the pricier side but absolutely worth it. I have never been so pleased with 500+ photographs.

The Honeymoon is Over
That's right we're back in good ol' New Jersey. I really really needed that 2.5 week vacation. Work was burning me out and I couldn't handle my crazy job and wedding planning.
Everything went so wonderfully, from the days before the wedding to the trip to Honolulu and our honeymoon cruise. There's always a few things but I'll save the ranting for another time.
I went back to work and the daily grind of NYC today. I felt like it was second day of work again with everyone briefing me on what I missed and what went on while I was away. The sad thing is that I had a pretty good idea of the goings-on because I did have to work a bit while away. I'm in a tough spot because I'm the only one in the entire company that does what I don't and nobody else seems to really get it and so they can't do anything without my input. It's sad but I have some pretty good job security.
